I have been asked about the music chosen for our slideshow.
All of it is solo guitar by Chet Atkins, but the first song has special meaning to me.
It is “Bring Me Sunshine” by Arthur Kent and Sylvia Dee, and I know it from the Morecambe & Wise version.
Bring me Sunshine, in your smile,
Bring me Laughter, all the while,
In this world where we live, there should be more happiness,
So much joy you can give, to each brand new bright tomorrow,Make me happy, through the years,
Never bring me, any tears,
Let your arms be as warm as the sun from up above,
Bring me fun, bring me sunshine, bring me love.Bring me Sunshine, in your eyes,
Bring me rainbows, from the skies,
Life’s too short to be spent having anything but fun,
We can be so content, if we gather little sunbeams,Be light-hearted, all day long,
Keep me singing, happy songs,
Let your arms be as warm as the sun from up above,
Bring me fun, bring me sunshine, bring me love.
That’s Nicholas.
Thank you, PW…. for sharing the lyrics and the audio version. It did bring me some sunshine this day. I am thinking maybe you also inherited that from Nic, even if not mentioned at the memorial service… the desire and ability to bring someone sunshine (and perhaps a bit of it reflected in Mother Moon that can light the way in the darkness- and bring love and smiles as well.)
In gratitude and some sunshine,
Sharon
